As a person who doesn’t have Astro, who doesn’t really watch TV anyway, the only way to keep up with the world is via the world wide web. As well as from their BFF aka POP who DOES have Astro and who DOES watch TV.
Sigh. I wish I could go to an Award show or at least have a reason to get Red Carpet ready!
So here’s the top 10 list of my favourite dresses from 2010 Oscars!
10. Charlize Theron in Christian Dior
Ah, the controversial dress. To be completely honest, I actually saw the photo of the back of the dress first and I thought ‘Wow, this is a lovely dress. Why aren’t people liking it?’ And then I saw the front of the dress. Aiyaiyaiyaiyai. Am loving the double shade of lilac and the train, just not the roses on her chest.
9. Zoe Saldana in Givenchy
You know, when I first saw this dress, I couldn’t quite decide if I liked it or not, but then looking at it again I realise; it is a very lovely dress. I love the sparkling bodice and the violet ruffled tulle skirt, but not necessarily together as a whole. There’s just way too many things going on! But still, love love love the violet!
8. Miley Cyrus in Jenny Packham
To be honest, I’m not a Miley Cyrus fan at all but I gotta say this champagne coloured corset dress with shimmery details is beautiful. Such a shame Miley’s gotta hunch which does not do this dress justice at all!
7. Zoe Kravitz in Alexis Mabille
Looking alluringly sweet in a pretty pink velvet column gown with deep burgundy strapless top and a seamless puddle train. Am loving the dark and light mixture in this dress.
6. Amanda Seyfried in Armani Prive
For some reason, this dress actually reminds me of Disney’s Cinderella! The stiff sculpture of the dress with it’s shimmery silver tone just simply says princess! Though the dress does kinda wash out her skin tone a little, the dress itself is beautiful nonetheless.
5. Penelope Cruz in Donna Karan
Okay, although the dusky red of this dress kinda blends in with the red carpet, the dress itself is lovely! Love the way the lines flow from the bust wrapping itself down and around the hips before opening up to a stiff train.
4. Maggie Gyllenhaal in Dries Van Noten
Am totally in love with the bold bright blue watercolour print of this lovely dress! This dress definitely stood out among all the other nude/muted numbers this year!
3. Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab
Because I am totally totally in love with muted prints as well as the crisscrossing details at the bust (I need as much detail on the bust as possible because unfortunately some people are not blessed in the chest), this dress is number 3! Loving how the colour and fullness of the skirt make this dress totally fairytale like!
2. Demi Moore in Atelier Versace
Ah! Am so totally in love with the nude nude nude! And this is how you should totally do nude! A gorgeous ruffled silk organza gown with duo tones of nude! The only reason she didn’t get first place, is simply because… first place just outshone in every single way!
1. Jennifer Lopez in Armani Prive
This dress is simply breathtaking. From the ethereal iridescent pink to structured fit to the waterfall of ruffles! This dress just totally blows you away! It’s different! It’s special! It makes you glow! LOVE LOVE LOVE! And as much as I love Sandra personally, I gotta say that J.Lo’s dress is THE dress of this year’s Oscar! Man, that woman’s got style!
You know, as I was writing this post I kinda kept getting confused between Penelope Cruz and Demi Moore. Maybe because I think they kinda look alike?
Anyways, a few other worthy mentions are:
Queen Latifah in Badgley Mischka; Cameron Diaz in Oscar de la Renta
Sigourney Weaver in Lanvin (can you believe she’s 60!); Anna Kendrick in Elie Saab
Kristen Stewart in Monique Lhuillier; Sarah Jessica Parker in Chanel
And of course, Sandra Bullock in Marchesa; and just 1 more photo of J.Lo & Demi!
And here are some photos of the men!
Ryan Reynolds in Tom Ford (personally I think he should just come topless); and only Robert Downey Jr. would be able to pull off this blue bowtie + sneakers ensemble. Don’t know about you guys but I think Downey is totally adorable!
Sam Worthington in Brioni; When Ryan Seacrest asked Ford who he was wearing, the designer sarcastically replied, “Tom Ford.” (Thumbs up to Tom Ford!)
And that’s all for this year’s Academy Awards!
So who are in your top 10 lists of best dressed this year?
xoxo WN.
